The development and hosting of this series of workshops is part of VISION 2024 which includes providing new information and education opportunities on important industry topics for our members. This workshop is open to members and nonmembers at no charge.  These events will generally be followed by related tutorials and training courses for our members.

OT cybersecurity is an area that is receiving increased attention, with a growing consensus that vulnerabilities exist that must be addressed. However, numerous challenges make achieving comprehensive defense-in-depth OT cybersecurity difficult if not unlikely, especially considering the many other priorities utilities face. Compounding the challenge is the mix of IP and serial communications that utilities generally have on their system and the reality that typical IT security solutions do not address the requirements of the SCADA environment. In response to these challenges, significant efforts are underway to develop and demonstrate new standards that will address many of the unique requirements of OT cybersecurity and facilitate broad adoption.

For our first workshop we are excited to be featuring the following industry experts:

  • John McDonald, Panel Chair, JDM Associates
  • Matthew Rogers, DHS CISA
  • Ginger Wright, Idaho National Labs
  • Ben Sooter, EPRI
  • Frances Cleveland, Xanthus Consulting
  • Grant Gilchrist, DNP Users Group, Tesco Automation
